I have been going about this all wrong…it’s my personality type…
To say I’m detail-oriented is to understate my affliction. A more proper description would be detail-obsessed. It’s not that I “sweat the details”, it’s that I “sweat each detail”.
When engaging something new and interesting, I feel compelled to learn and understand everything about it before I’m comfortable using it (or *gasp* sharing it).
Sometimes that can be a good thing – I might become a subject matter expert on a topic, eager to share my knowledge with those similarly interested.
Other times that can be a not-so-good thing – I can become a fountain of useless knowledge, boring others with facts and details far beyond their interest.
Or worse, that personality quirk can lead to where I am now – trying to learn a new skill and a new platform, following WordPress rabbit hole after rabbit hole attempting to fully understand the ins and outs of this platform instead of creating any actual content to share.
Themes and Blocks and Posts and Plugins – so much to learn! I need to get everything setup and customized before I start posting any content, right?
Or maybe it’s just time to move out of my comfort zone. The learning curve will be steep but I just need to get used to “picking it up as I go”. It’s not like there’s a spotlight on this little corner of the Internet, after all.
So…deep breath…it’s time to shift focus from the details and just get started…and click “Publish”…
